Justin and the Knights of Valour (Jasper & Julia en de dappere ridders)
Mohaq - ages 8+
Synopsis
Special Screening
In a kingdom where values like bravery, courage and honour have been replaced by bureaucracy and tedious rules, Justin, a sweet-natured young boy, dreams of becoming a Knight of Valour, just like his grandfather was. Justin’s father, however, wants him to become a lawyer. Encouraged by his beloved grandmother, Justin bids farewell to his sweetheart and decides it’s time to embark on the voyage to becoming a knight. Little does he know what’s in store for him, what with all the wizards, monks and other dangerous enemies who try to thwart him in his quest.
By creating a stark contrast between the colourful, fantastic setting of Justin’s brave adventures and the grey, rigid lawyers’ world that his father wants him to enter, director Manuel Sicilia serves up an ode to heroism versus conformism, and a resonant tribute to the importance of following our dreams against all odds.
Produced by Antonio Banderas and voiced by an all-star cast (Banderas himself, along with Rupert Everett, Freddie Highmore, Saoirse Ronan, Alfred Molina, Julie Walters, among many others), ‘Justin and the Knights of Valour’ delivers a charming coming-of-age adventure for all ages, in the vein of beloved sagas and classic fairy tales.
