Banned Bodies (Les Corps interdits)
Ajyal Competition
Synopsis
Black-and-white photographs and grainy video images of squalid temporary housing at Calais, France, are voiced over with the tragic stories of refugees who are in limbo there, stranded on their quest for a better life in Europe. In danger at home, unwelcome on the Continent, and not permitted to travel to the UK, these are people who are banned from everything: from life, from hope, from a future. ‘Banned Bodies’ sheds light on this terrible situation, implicitly urging us to take action.
