Hekayat Khaleejiya (Stories from the Gulf)

Hekayat Khaleejiya, which translates to ‘Stories from the Gulf’, is a quarterly screening series dedicated to showcasing cinematic voices from the Gulf region. Taking place at the Museum of Islamic Art, the series presents films accompanied by question-and-answer sessions with the filmmakers to gain insight into their work and process.

The Tainted Veil

Screenings are followed by a question-and-answer session with the director.

Whether a veil of the soul, the mind or the body, the layers of the veil in history and the many meanings behind it will be revealed. The hijab is a head covering, and ‘women are either judged for wearing the hijab or for not wearing it’.
