Leading Public and Private Sector Entities Across the Spectrum Extend Support to 4th Doha Tribeca Film Festival

Doha, Qatar; November 16, 2012: The fourth Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF), the annual cultural celebration of the Doha Film Institute (DFI), to be held from November 17 to 24, 2012, is supported this year by a wide spectrum of public and private sector entities covering education, media, hospitality and retail trade, among others.

Endorsing their support for the community-driven event once again, Katara Cultural Village will serve as the Festival’s ‘Cultural Partner,’ along with our newest partner, the Souq Waqif. Alfardan Group is the Signature Sponsor and Official Jewelry Sponsor for 2012.

Al Jazeera Network has renewed its support to the festival as the ‘Host Broadcaster.’ Media companies Variety Arabia and Zee Aflam have pledged their support as the Festival’s ‘Gold Media Sponsor,’ while International Herald Tribune (IHT), Qatar Happening, Screen International, T Qatar (Qatar Edition of the New York Times style Magazine), and Time Out Doha are the Silver Media Sponsors.

The ‘Friends of the Festival’ include: al khaliji as ‘Official Bank Partner;’ Ernst & Young as ‘Official Sustainability Sponsor’; Fifty One East and Sony, as ‘Official Electronics Partners;’ Frank Provost as ‘Official Hair Stylist Partner;’ M.A.C as ‘Official Make-Up Sponsor;’ Miramax as host of the ‘Investment Strategies in the Global Film Industry’ Panel and Luncheon; Northwestern University in Qatar as co-host of the Made in Qatar Opening Night, host of the ‘Emerging Cinema of Change’ panel, and ‘Official Education Partner;’ Rayyan Water as ‘Official Water Sponsor;’ and Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels and The St. Regis Doha as ‘Official Hotel Partner,’ and Al Rayyan Theater, QMA and W Doha Hotel & Residences as ‘Friend of the Festival.’

The Festival will open with Mira Nair’s critically acclaimed film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. With an expanded Festival format this year, DTFF 2012 will showcase over 87 films from across the globe under distinct themed sections including Arab Film Competition, Made in Qatar, Contemporary World Cinema, Special Screenings and Tribute to Algerian Cinema.

DTFF 2012 provides audiences a comprehensive and enriching cultural experience with new screening venues across Doha. Indoor and outdoor screenings will take place at Katara Cultural Village, Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA), and Souq Waqif.

Public participation will be central as the Festival is hosting an array of large community events, including Family Days, panel discussions, networking events and educational filmmaking programmes including Doha Talks and Doha Projects.
