DFI Cinema to screen highly-rated ‘Searching’, a mystery thriller, on Sept. 13 & 14 ahead of its theatrical release in the region

Doha, Qatar; September 12, 2018: The Doha Film Institute Cinema (DFI Cinema) will screen the highly-rated, award-winning mystery thriller, Searching (USA/2018), directed by Aneesh Chaganty, as part of its ‘Contemporary Releases’, on September 13 and 14, at the Museum of Islamic Art Auditorium. The exclusive screening comes ahead of the film’s official theatrical release in the region, offering Qatari residents the opportunity to watch it before it screens at commercial cinemas region-wide from the 27th of September.

The winner of the Audience Award and Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2018, Searching is the story of a desperate father, who breaks into his missing 16-year-old daughter’s laptop to look for clues to find her. The film is told via technology devices used every day to communicate, as the father tries to trace his daughter’s digital footprints before she disappears forever.

Director Aneesh Chaganty’s 2-minute short film, Seeds, became an internet sensation after garnering a million YouTube views in 24 hours. He is a recipient of the prestigious Future of Storytelling Fellowship.

Rated PG 15, the film, in English, will be screened with Arabic subtitles, on 6 PM and 9 PM on Sept. 13, and at 3 PM, 6 PM and 9 PM on Sept. 14. Tickets are priced QR35. Students and Culture Pass by Qatar Museum members can avail of discounted rates of QR25 per person.
