The Dry Kingdom
Spring Grants 2024 - Development Stage
Synopsis
Mashael comes from a family of scientists who began researching the water shortage crisis long before it drove the world to chaos. Conditions are deteriorating rapidly, with food, money, and safety growing scarcer by the day. Saif, Mashael’s father, is on the verge of a major scientific breakthrough: a pill that can instantly desalinate ocean water. But when Saif is kidnapped, Mashael sets out to find him, enlisting the help of her best friend, Adam. In her quest to find her father, Mashael discovers more than she bargained for—new friends, old secrets, and her long-lost mother. As she navigates the perilous landscape, she also finds a fragile hope that humanity can be—and is worth being—saved.
