Synopsis
Cairo, June 2015, 6:00 AM. An explosion shatters a window, knocking Lola, a 40-year old-Egyptian journalist, unconscious. During the subsequent days she spends in hospital, Lola must leave her 12-year-old daughter Natalie with her grandmother, Dalal, with whom Lola does not have a very good relationship. Dalal, a photographer, lives with past trauma and a great sense of guilt. The explosion acts as a big bang in these women’s lives as it exposes what Dalal’s ex-husband has hidden for 40 years: that he was responsible for the murder of Dalal’s secret lover – Lola’s biological father. This discovery allows Dalal to forgive herself and reconnect with her suppressed memories of Lebanon in the 1970s, as well as with her daughter.
