Synopsis

This short documentary delves into the life of my mother, Chimene, a remarkable woman in her late 50s who has faced deadly challenges in both her marriage and health. Life took a different turn for Chimene during the war when she married Michel. Post-marriage, a harrowing chapter unfolded as she ceased all her activities and work, including her passion for painting and even driving, in response to the narcissistic abuse she was enduring. A decade into her marriage, Chimene confronted a deadly cancer in her womb. However, life took another unexpected twist when her husband left Lebanon to work abroad. To her shock, she learned that he had changed his religion and married another woman while still legally bound to her. This revelation plunged Chimene into a state of anxiety and confinement within the walls of her home. Despite these challenges, Chimene faced two more battles against cancer in her later years—first in her breast and later in her thyroid and neck.
